I noticed nobody has mentioned playing fathom mage with forced adaptation. So for posterity....
Well:
Ramp out vorel on turn two via llanowar elves or whatever, cast fathom mage on turn three, cast 1,2,3 or 4 copies of forced adaptation on fathom mage on turn four, then by turn five you have a fathom mage who more than doubles every turn from vorel's ability.
If you stock favor of the overbeings as well, then by turn six you have a 6/6 flying vigilance who doubles size every turn and draws you upwards of 4+ extra cards every turn.
Its not infinite or anything, but backed up by counterspells, sheltering ward, and snakeform, theres not going to be a whole lot they can do to stop her, and soon youll be drawing 4 then 8 then 16 extra cards.....

The Blue Ring also works well (can provide hexproof for 2 mana if protection needed).

on another note... does fathom mage come in non-premium (foil)?
ive seen a lot of foil ones, but never seen a non-foil of that card... i find it a little odd though

I have one of each. I think I'll need to get 2 more. She seems to be the catalyst for a deck full of UG goodies...
